MECA’s 2022 Día de los Muertos will be held at MECA’s colorful, art-filled campus located at the nationally recognized Historic Dow School in the heart of Houston’s Old Sixth Ward. It features altar exhibitions, community workshops, and a two day festival. The Brooks Museum and Cazateatro Bilingual Theater Group have partnered for the past 6 years to celebrate El Dia de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, a holiday observed in Mexico and other Latin American countries on November 1 and 2.On these special days, it is believed that the souls of the dead come back to visit with their living loved ones. Now in its twenty-second year, MECA’s event has flourished into a month long event of festivities.
